Look around you. What do you see? If you’re taking a walk through Nazareth College’s campus, you’re probably seeing blankets of snow (or melted snow), crowded tunnels, and a wide variety of everyone’s idea of how to stay warm, yet still be themselves during another Rochester winter.
If you look a little closer, you will see what I see.
It is quite rewarding to see how Naz students dress from season to season. The tunnels alone bring the warmth a little closer to our college, allowing the students who fortunately live in on campus dorms (Kearney, Lourdes, O’Connor, George, and Medaille) to go to any academic building (except for the Arts Center) without feeling a taste of the winter all day long. The usual around here includes seeing a few peers strutting in a pair of shorts and flip-flops on their way to class.
College fashion, in general, has such a unique face. Other times, you may see someone strolling into class wearing pajamas, but at this point even that is normal to the overall look of “college fashion.” At this point, you are probably wondering what is there to fashion at Naz anyway?
Whether it is obvious or not, Nazareth College is not necessarily the most fashion-forward campus in America, however, there is beauty in the outfits that grace our campus on a daily basis. In my hometown of Brooklyn – and NYC in general – people dress to impress, and at times it feels as though we are constantly in a fashion show. Sometimes this is a bit overwhelming, but it does not feel this way at Naz. Fashion on campus consists of unique accessories, everyday essentials and wardrobe staples from Alex and Ani bracelets and infamous UGG boots in various styles and colors to really awesome joggers/sweats and more.
