Spicy, Yet Satisfying

Football season is back! And with it are afternoons filled with relaxing and delicious snack foods. One snack in particular which seems to show up almost everywhere, whether it be for afternoons of football, a party, or even just a quiet night in, is chicken wing dip.

Before coming to Naz, I had never heard of chicken wing dip and first thought it was some sort of cream sauce to dip chicken wings in. I have since learned that this Central and Western New York specialty is a creamy, spicy concoction often served with chips. It quickly became one of my favorite afternoon snacks and a go-to recipe for hanging out with friends.

In addition to its killer taste, another great thing about this snack is that it is super easy to make! Check out the recipe below:

Chicken Wing Dip
Makes 4 cups

2 cups shredded, cooked chicken (canned chicken works just as well)
1 8 oz. package cream cheese
1/2 cup Frank’s RedHot®
1/2 cup blue cheese or ranch dressing
1/2 cup shredded cheese (your preference)

1. Preheat oven to 350°F
2. Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl
2. Spoon the mixture into a shallow, 1 quart baking dish
3. Bake 20 minutes or until mixture is heated through
4. Stir before serving
5. Serve with chips, crackers or vegetables

Already a fan and want to try a new twist? Experiment with different types of hot sauce. Last week, a group of my friends made chicken wing dip with sriracha and, while it was less spicy than the Frank’s, it was much more flavorful and definitely something to make again.

Happy snacking!
