Last Tuesday night, ResLife hosted “Adulting with a Twist” in the Shults Forum, a fun night which revived childhood favorites as a nice break from the stress of preparing for midterms. This event featured “paint and sip” with sippy cups full of juice and some reference images from beloved children’s movies and shows for inspiration including “Spongebob”, The Lion King, and Finding Nemo. There were plenty of watercolor palettes for everyone to embrace their inner artist, and three big tables so students could sit in groups and share feedback and support for one another expressing their creative side.
For those feeling more adventurous, a track course was set up out of chairs for friends to race on scooter boards. Although fairly basic in its design, the course appealed to those with fond memories of using scooter boards as a kid and was a fun way for some friendly competition.
To keep the energy up, throwback jams were playing in the background including “Burning Up” by the —potentially reunited ;)— Jonas Brothers, “Soulja Boy”, “Stacy’s Mom”, “Hollaback Girl” and so many more. As each song began to play you could feel the excitement as everyone prepared to sing along to these classic bops.
To complete the walk down memory lane, there were cookies and milk, cheese quesadillas, and more ramen than you could eat!
It just goes to show, you never outgrow your child side. All in all, not a bad way to spend a Tuesday night! Make sure no matter what life throws at you, you take time to remember the things that made you happy when you were young, and don’t work too hard!
