Out & About: Restaurant Good Luck

Good Luck

As I enter into my final few months at Nazareth College and prepare for the next chapter of my life after graduation, I am sad to be leaving a city that I have grown so close to. One place that I will surely miss is Restaurant Good Luck.

Located at 50 Anderson Ave., Good Luck offers a creative selection of cuisine and cocktails in an atmosphere unlike any other. Opened in 2008 by co-owners Chuck Cerankosky, Mike Calabrese and Dan Martello, Good Luck was one of the first farm-to-table restaurants to open in Rochester and its popularity grew quickly.

Good Luck has an industrial feel to it, but it’s dim, candlelit tables provide an intimate setting. The focal point upon entering is the large square bar that stretches across the length of the restaurant. With their extensive menu of handcrafted cocktails and expert bartenders, you are certain to find a drink you love.

Sewn Seeds 2014Good Luck also hosts a number of events, including one of my favorites: the Peppermint Sewn Seeds Runway Show. Luckily for all you Naz-goers who are unfamiliar with Good Luck, the fourth annual fashion show is taking place on Sunday, March 20. Tanvi Asher, who is the founder and designer of Shop Peppermint, started the event and features her own collection of handmade bridal gowns. The event was created to showcase the talents of local designers, makers, and stylists while donating a portion of the proceeds to benefit Girls Rock! Rochester and Verona Street Animal Shelter.

I have had the pleasure of participating in the runway show as a model and it has allowed me to meet and be inspired by all kinds of creative individuals in the Rochester community. It is a time where people come together for food, fashion and fun – all for a great cause. Good Luck is the perfect venue to host, as their unique atmosphere and passion for creativity help bring this event to life.

When I think back on my time here in Rochester, some of my fondest memories have taken place at Good Luck. From walking the runway in the Sewn Seeds fashion show to indulging in their famous Good Luck burger with one of my best friends, Good Luck has helped make my time in the 585 something I will never forget.
