Nazareth Women’s Soccer Senior Day

On October 31st, the Nazareth Women’s Soccer team celebrated their senior day the right way, with a big 2-0 win over Skidmore College. The Golden Flyers started all eight of their seniors, despite some injuries earlier in the season. The starting seniors included: Courtney Malia, Mackenzie Dunphy, Briana Vibbard, Ashley Paris, Danielle Wilkin, Dana Donnelly, Katie Reilly and Katie Trainor.

Katie Reilly a back from Albany, NY described senior day as “A day filled with memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life.” She said “It was great to have such a good team win, everyone played with heart and played for each other and that’s all we could ask for.”

Saturday’s game marked the 11th time this season that the Golden Flyers recorded a shutout. Mackenzie Dunphy was in goal for both halves and made five saves total. Sophmore Laura Herman scored both goals for Nazareth and had four shots on goal. Senior, Briana Vibbard and Sophmore, Sarah Conroy were credited with the assists to Herman. Sophmore, Rachel Dise played a great game; she had four shots on goal but was unlucky to score.

Naz finished the regular season with a record of 12-2-3. This weekend the Golden Flyers head to Hoboken, NJ to participate in the Empire 8 tournament as the 3rd seed. They will take on    the 2nd seed, Ithaca College. The championship game will be on Saturday at 7pm. Live stats and video will be available through the Nazareth College Athletics website.
