Welcoming Women’s Ice Hockey

I am very proud to announce for those who don’t know (which is more than you’d think), that Naz has decided to add women’s ice hockey to their list of collegiate athletic teams! Women’s hockey has been gaining more and more popularity over the years. More girls are playing and slowly more people are starting to realize how competitive it is. The season begins in just a few weeks and these girls are a solid group who are ready to start it strong by using both team unity and the motivational pride that comes from being Nazareth college’s first women’s ice hockey team.Photo 1- golden gazette

When asked what they’re most excited about, and what they believe is their biggest key to success, the team commented, “Being a part of the inaugural season of the Nazareth women’s hockey team is an honor. We are all so excited to get into the season and are ready to pour the foundation for an amazing program. One of our goals is to create a family culture, both on and off the ice, in order to help us be successful. We hope people will come out to support us and enjoy the greatest sport on earth, women’s hockey!” One of the most important aspects of a successful team, especially in such an intense sport such as hockey, is the chemistry of the team. Their desire to be a group of strong women who support each other is the perfect mindset to the start of this team at Naz and it is what will bring them great success. The team will be led by head coach Chris Baudo. With the combined knowledge and experience of Coach Baudo, and the girls’ drive to create a bond greater than teammates, we can all be left with no doubts that this is going to be an exciting season not only for the team, but also for the fans.
