10 Reasons You Should Study Abroad

As many of you may know, Nazareth College works with a plethora of countries to allow students the opportunity to study abroad. Studying abroad was one of the best decisions that I have ever made.

Here are some reasons you should consider studying abroad:

  1. You get the opportunity to indulge in a culture that’s different from your own.
  2.  You are exposed to different delicious cuisines. My personal favorite was the pizza in Italy (you can live off of it, and I am not kidding).
  3. Studying abroad allows you to develop new friendships, whether it is with pals from your home college or from the country you are studying in.
  4. You get to learn about the history of certain countries up close and personal. You can view amazing landmarks and historical monuments.
  5.  You learn how to be OK with being away from home or the comfort of your dorm for a semester, which is great for personal growth and development.
  6. Studying abroad may require you to learn a foreign language, but locals are usually more than willing to teach you and they love to learn your native language as well (it also looks awesome on a resume).
  7. You can also branch off after studying abroad and complete internships in other countries.
  8. You get to explore and redefine yourself as an individual, essentially as though you are starting in brand new world with a clean slate.
  9. Traveling to new places – especially new countries – gives you a diverse perspective throughout your life.
  10. You get to create amazing memories that will last you a lifetime.

You only have so much time to study abroad and if you do, it will be worth every second. Although studying abroad may seem expensive, it can be affordable for everyone! There are many scholarships and programs that help make this opportunity possible through Nazareth. Do yourself a favor and look into studying abroad – it will definitely change your life.
