Candidate Bio – Abbi Fuhrken

  • My name is Abbi Fuhrken and I am a junior with a political science and legal studies double major
  • In addition to being a class senator, I am starting to help organize a new law club on campus, and I am a member of the Dance Team.
  • My current UA position is Class of 2016 Senator.
  • The position I am running for is Class Senator.
  • My reasoning for running for this position is that I feel it is important to be involved on campus, and I love having the opportunity to be a part of the decision making for events and campus life for the college.
  • By becoming class senator, I hope to accomplish great events for the senior class, and to help the senate meetings run smoothly.
  • If I could improve one thing at the college, it would be the quality food served at the various dining locations because that is one of our biggest complaints here on campus.
  • My favorite thing about college is the sense of independence and meeting new people. My least favorite thing is having a lot of work, with very little time. Although the work pushes us to become better students in our fields, the stress is not fun, especially if you’re a procrastinator. (Like me!)
  • I believe it is important for students to participate in the UA or other campus activities because it allows one to meet new people and form friendships, and it is a good break from constantly doing school work.
  • If I had to be stuck in a book it would be hands down the Harry Potter series, because who wouldn’t want to live in a world full of magic and adventure?!
  • If I had to be stuck in a TV show, I would have to pick Friends because they are the ultimate friend group, or Scandal, because I would love to work in the government and to know all of their secrets. Plus, Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope is fabulous!
  • If I had to pick two celebrity parents it would have to be Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively because they are basically American royalty and mixing there genes together pretty much makes the ultimate human.
